Gammid Trading was founded by Elaine Midgley on the 1st February 1993. Five years later 40% of the company was sold to Mr. Nicolaas Gerber.

In April 2007 Argent Industrial a Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed company acquired 100% of the shares

From 01 April 2010 Gammid Trading (Pty) Ltd started trading as Argent Steel Group (Pty) Ltd t/a Gammid Trading.

Due to the big success of Gammid Trading and with the backing that a large entity afforded Gammid, a task was undertaken to broaden horizons. Wanting to provide a more personal and therefore better customer service it was decided to extend the already widespread network in Cape Town, George and Kwa-Zulu Natal to include Port Elizabeth, Richards Bay and Middleburg as Gammid increased its footprint across South Africa.
 
Gammid Trading, as well as the above mentioned branches are today established Stockists and Distributors, providing an integrated service to the industrial and engineering markets. The company specializes in the supply of Stainless Steel and Aluminium in sheets, plates, coil, extruded sections and semi-fabricated products.

In line with Argents group policy of dynamism and constant improvement Gammid have invested in the most up to date Laser cutting machine boasting a 6 kW resonator which can cut  Stainless Steel up to 25mm thick and Aluminium up to 16mm, it can handle sheet and plate of 6000mm long and 2000mm wide. Guillotine and bending facilities have also been added, this allows Gammid to offer a one stop shop to its customer base and thereby further improving service levels.
 
We have numerous cutting saws and eccentric presses to further add value to our Aluminium profiles.

An Aluminium plate saw that can cut up to 150mm plate is also available.

Stainless Steel and Aluminium Sheet polishing facilities are available on site as part the now very comprehensive package.
